Daryl’s Christian faith is very important to him and is both the foundation of his life and motivation for every part of it. He seeks to live out the teachings of Jesus and the Bible in his everyday life, both private and public.

Our national, state and local governments are not theocracies being overtly guided by God in the formation of laws and policies. However, as a Christian, Daryl’s faith cannot help but to influence the decisions that he makes in every aspect of his life, including public office. This influence enables him to make wise decisions that are compassionate and fair to all of our citizens, regardless of ethnicity, faith or gender. His Christian faith forms a moral compass or guide that helps him search for and discover (as much as humanly possible) the right or ethical courses of action and will help him in developing and voting for legislation that will benefit all of our citizens.
Religious freedom is an important aspect of American life and should not be infringed by the government or other citizens. Regardless of one’s faith, they should have the freedom to live out that faith in private and public, as long as that exercise does not infringe on the free exercise of other people’s faith. The free exercise of religion the U.S. Constitution guarantees is not just the freedom to worship as one wishes but the freedom to live as their faith dictates, to operate their business as their faith teaches, to live according to the teachings of their faith. However, it is also important that no religion becomes the law of the land but every religion should all be treated equally under the law with the same influence and benefits.
Daryl believes that the government should not be in the business of establishing or endorsing religion but neither should it avoid all involvement with it. A proper and healthy relationship between government agencies and religious organizations can help both to better care for our citizens in need.
