Daryl has served in the military for 20 years and has deployed all over the world in service to his country to defend our freedom and the freedom of our friends around the world.
Freedom is the foundation of our society as Americans. The Declaration of Independence began the process of establishing the freedom of the American colonists from the tyranny of foreign rule. The Constitution chiseled into stone the freedoms that Americans have held dear for nearly 250 years.
There are many aspects of American life that are made possible by the freedoms we have as Americans, things that we enjoy everyday that continue because of the freedom we enjoy. However, there are some who would like to limit our freedoms or even take them away. Daryl believes that the founding fathers knew what they were doing with the development and ratification of the Constitution of the United States. He believes that the founding documents protect the freedoms we enjoy and should continue to be what the government is controlled by.
In addition to these documents, our system of government as a Constitutional or Democratic Republic ensures that our freedoms are protected. As a democracy, the people elect representatives to act on their behalf in government. As a republic, government is limited in its exercise of power over the people by the Constitution. It is important that our democratic way of life continues and does not yield to any form of Socialism that some would like to see in the United States, touting it as a panacea for the difficulties we face in our country. Americans need to remember that it is our system of government that protects our freedoms and provides the best hope for healing and development as a nation.
